Our Work

GMAC has been a significant partner of Scottish Screen (now Creative Scotland), BBC Scotland and Skillset Scotland in the development of film making talent in Scotland for over 15 years. The organisation was also the sole Scottish Strategic partner of the UK Film Council's New Cinema Fund in the development and production of Digital Short films in Scotland for over 10 years.
GMAC has developed and delivered various award winning short film programmes and initiatives over the years including SCREENWORKS, CINEWORKS, DIGICULT, DIGI PLUS, GMAC SHORTS and SHORTCUTS. Films produced within these initiatives have gone on to win a number of local, national and international awards including 10 Scottish BAFTA's, 5 Scottish BAFTA New Talents Awards, the GOLDEN BEAR AWARD for Best Short at Berlinale, Runner Up at the BBC New Talent Awards and Best Short Film Awards at over 20 International Film Festivals around the world. GMAC's alumni reads like a whos who of the Scottish film industry with the likes of David McKenzie(Young Adam, Hallam Foe), Lynne Ramsay (Rat Catcher, Morvan Callar), Morag McKinnon (Home, Donkeys), Saul Metizen (Late Night Shopping), Duncan Finnegan (My Life is a Bus Stop) and Chris Waitt (Dupe, A Complete History of my Sexual Failures) all developing their skills and setting the opportunity to make their first film through the organisation. Along with being the centre for the development of film making talent in Scotland, GMAC have also worked as a production house producing work for television including documentaries for STV's THIS SCOTLAND strand.
In recent years the organisation has developed the type of support it provides extending into formal apprenticeship programmes and support for low budget feature films. In 2008/09 GMAC supported the independent feature film Running in Traffic by working as an Associate Producer on it. This support significantly helped this low budget feature get made and subsequently the film has gone to win a number of awards including a Scottish BAFTA for Best Producer and an International Film Festival Award for Excellence in Norway.
